Text: Isaiah 53: 4-5.
“Surely
He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten
by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was
bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by
His stripes, we are healed.”
Never forget
that Man is tripartite. Man is a spirit, has a soul, and lives in a body. The
salvation work of Jesus Christ was not only limited to the regeneration of the
spirit but also the transformation of the soul and the healing of the body.
The prophecy about Jesus' redemptive work in Isaiah 53: 4-5, carries these
three dimensions:
Griefs and
sorrows are sicknesses of the soul.
Transgressions
and iniquities are diseases of the Spirit. The last sentence has to do with our
bodies, "by his stripes, we are healed."
Jesus came
not only to forgive your sins, but also to heal you from all diseases,
depressions, stress, oppressions, imprisonment, etc.
In Luke
4:18-19, when Jesus is giving the mission statement of His ministry, we see
again the reference to the spirit soul and body, “The Spirit of the Lord
is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has
sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and
recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To
proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
What is your
own condition today?
Take note of
this, the same way that you believe that Jesus has forgiven your sins by taking
them away, believe also that He has handled your sicknesses. It was on that
same cross that Jesus was wounded for your transgressions, bruised for your iniquities
and that He also bore your sicknesses and carried your diseases. Glory to God.
You are forgiven, healed and liberated by that one sacrifice.
In Matthew
4: 23-24, we see the ministry of Jesus was focused on preaching the Gospel,
healing the sick, and delivering the possessed and oppressed.
When He sent
the disciples to preach, it was not only to win souls, but also to heal the
sick, deliver the oppressed and raise the death, (Matthew 10: 1, 7-8).
So, the
preaching of the Gospel or of God’s word must address the three dimensions of
Man: Spirit, Soul and Body.
At all these
three dimensions, we need to apply faith. Faith that our sins are forgiven,
faith that Jesus took our sicknesses, faith that Jesus has liberated us from
satanic prisons and oppressions.
Hallelujah!!!
May God
grant you a blessed day.
