1 Thessalonians 5:2

For you yourselves know perfectly that the "day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night."

There are important subjects in the Christian faith on which we should be properly informed. You know someone said, if you are not well informed, you will be deformed. In Christianity being properly informed is very capital to our proper functioning and maximization of our destinies. One of the subjects on which everybody, not only Christians should be well informed, is about the Day of the Lord. There are many speculations and erroneous teachings out there about life, the end of the world and the second coming of Jesus Christ. You will not and should not be a victim.

The Day of the Lord is coming. In the opening text, Paul wrote, "For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night."

Take note of what Paul wrote, "For you yourselves know perfectly..." Praise the Lord! 

There are things you should know perfectly. About the Day of the Lord, you should know it perfectly. You should grasp the revelation very well. Don't be misled. 

The discourse actually begins in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, where Paul is speaking about rapture and resurrection. Paul says "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. (1 Thess. 4:16‭). 

Why is it important to know and believe about the Day of the Lord? It is very important because, 

1) No one knows when the Lord Jesus Christ shall return. It could today, tomorrow or next year. Unfortunately, many people are careless. Paul added that, "For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape." (Verse 3‭). But we who are in Christ shall escape because we are children of the light. Walk in the light. 

2) The awareness of the Day of the Lord keeps us on alert and watchful. Verse 6 says, "Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober." Do not sleep as others do. Do not live as others live, in carelessness and and disorderliness. Christians have a hope of being with the Lord when He shall return. Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 24 to be watchful about the day. You need to be watchful because you do not know when. The Day of the Lord is Coming, don't be ignorant or wrongly informed about it. Take heed to yourself and to your doctrines. 

Prayer:

Father, thank you for your word this morning. I believe and prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Lord give me the wisdom to walk in righteousness and the power to serve you faithfully till the end in the name of Jesus Christ

 "Car vous-mêmes savez parfaitement que "le jour du Seigneur vient comme un voleur dans la nuit".

 Il y a des sujets importants dans la foi chrétienne sur lesquels nous devrions être correctement informés. Vous savez quelqu'un a dit, si vous n'êtes pas bien informé, vous serez déformé. Dans le christianisme, être correctement informé est très important pour notre bon fonctionnement et la maximisation de nos destinées. L'un des sujets sur lesquels tout le monde, pas seulement les chrétiens, devrait être bien informé, concerne le Jour du Seigneur. Il y a beaucoup de spéculations et d'enseignements erronés sur la vie, la fin du monde et la seconde venue de Jésus-Christ. Vous ne serez pas et ne devriez pas être une victime.

 Le Jour du Seigneur arrive. Dans le texte d'ouverture, Paul a écrit : "Car vous savez vous-mêmes parfaitement que le jour du Seigneur vient comme un voleur dans la nuit."

 Prenez note de ce que Paul a écrit : "Car vous savez vous-mêmes parfaitement..." Gloire au Seigneur !

 Il y a des choses que vous devez parfaitement savoir. Concernant le Jour du Seigneur, vous devez le connaître parfaitement. Vous devriez très bien saisir la révélation. Ne soyez pas induit en erreur.

 Le discours commence en fait dans 1 Thessaloniciens 4:13, où Paul parle de l'enlèvement et de la résurrection. Paul dit "Car le Seigneur lui-même descendra du ciel avec un cri, avec une voix d'archange, et avec la trompette de Dieu." (1 Thess. 4:16).

 Pourquoi est-il important de connaître et de croire au Jour du Seigneur ? C'est très important parce que,

 1) Personne ne sait quand le Seigneur Jésus-Christ reviendra. Cela pourrait être aujourd'hui, demain ou l'année prochaine. Malheureusement, beaucoup de gens sont négligents. Paul a ajouté que : "Car quand ils disent : "Paix et sécurité !" alors une destruction soudaine s'abat sur eux, comme les douleurs de l'accouchement sur une femme enceinte. Et ils n'échapperont pas. (Verset 3). Mais nous qui sommes en Christ échapperons parce que nous sommes enfants de la lumière. Marchez dans la lumière.

 2) La conscience du Jour du Seigneur nous maintient en alerte et vigilants. Le verset 6 dit : « Ne dormons donc pas comme les autres, mais veillons et soyons sobres. Ne dormez pas comme les autres. Ne vivez pas comme les autres vivent, dans l'insouciance et le désordre. Les chrétiens ont l'espoir d'être avec le Seigneur quand il reviendra."  Jésus a dit aux disciples dans Matthieu 24 de veiller sur le jour. Vous devez être vigilant car vous ne savez pas quand. Le Jour du Seigneur arrive, ne soyez pas ignorants ou mal informés à ce sujet. Prenez garde à vous-même et à vos doctrines.

 Prière:

 Père, merci pour ta parole ce matin. Je crois et je me prépare pour la seconde venue de Jésus-Christ. Seigneur, donne-moi la sagesse de marcher dans la justice et le pouvoir de te servir fidèlement jusqu'à la fin au nom de Jésus-Christ
