Significance of Jesus' Ascension, Part Four / Signification de l'Ascension de Jésus, Quatrième partie

Acts 1:6 NLT

"So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

Imagine the surprise of Jesus Christ after they asked Him the question above. He was with the disciples for three years and half. He taught them and they heard Him teach about the kingdom of God almost all the time. He even sent them out to announce the good news of the Kingdom. Again, _"During the forty days after He suffered and died, He appeared to the apostles from time to time, and He proved to them in many ways that He was actually alive. And He talked to them about the Kingdom of God"_ (Acts 1:3). Just when He was about to be taken up into Heaven, they brought up the topic about the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. Can you imagine that? 

This shows that the disciples of Jesus had a secret expectation following Jesus; they were concerned about the earthly and political kingdom of Israel. But Jesus had His mission well defined, reestablish God's kingdom on earth. 

So, the disciples walked with Jesus Christ for three years and they still missed the focus of Jesus’ Mission.

Imagine if Jesus did not show up to them after resurrection to give them orientation and commission them! They would have missed it all. In fact, Peter and some other disciples went back to fishing. What should we learn from all of these? 

(1) Beloved, learning must be a continuous process. Never assume that people have understood something until you see Them practicing it. 

(2) Learning goes hand in glove with repetitions. There are topics that needs constant repetitions. The kingdom of Israel was just a temporal set up for God to reach out to the rest of the nations. God had a bigger agenda, establish His Kingdom on earth. That was the focus of Jesus’ Message. Jesus was not only preaching, healing and delivering people, His focus was the Kingdom of God. 

(3) Every child of God should live and think globally and not locally. Getting involved in the global work of expanding God's kingdom on earth. 

(4) We must balance our personal expectations in life with the Mission of God. Yes, you have needs, but God also has an agenda He wants you to be a part. His agenda must be fulfilled. He is looking for labourers for His harvest. Will you be one of them? Seek for a way to contribute to the advancement of God's Kingdom. Let us not be idle and lazy about it. It is an urgent matter. It will determine the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Actes 1: 6

"Ainsi, lorsque les apôtres étaient avec Jésus, ils lui demandaient sans cesse: "Seigneur, le temps est-il venu pour toi de libérer Israël et de restaurer notre royaume?"

 Imaginez la surprise de Jésus-Christ après qu'on lui posa la question ci-dessus. Il était avec les disciples pendant trois ans et demi. Il les a enseignés et ils l'ont entendu parler du royaume de Dieu presque tout le temps. Il les a même envoyés annoncer la bonne nouvelle du Royaume. Encore une fois, _"Pendant les quarante jours qui suivirent sa souffrance et sa mort, il apparut de temps en temps aux apôtres, et il leur prouva de bien des manières qu'il était réellement vivant. Et il leur parla du Royaume de Dieu"_ (Actes 1:3). Juste au moment où il était sur le point d'être enlevé au ciel, ils ont soulevé le sujet de la restauration du royaume d'Israël. Pouvez-vous imaginer ça? 

Cela montre que les disciples de Jésus avaient une attente secrète en suivant Jésus ; ils étaient préoccupés par le royaume terrestre et politique d'Israël. Mais Jésus avait sa mission bien définie, rétablir le royaume de Dieu sur terre. Ainsi, les disciples ont marché avec Jésus-Christ pendant trois ans et ils ont encore manqué le centre de la mission de Jésus. Imaginez si Jésus ne s'était pas présenté à eux après la résurrection pour leur donner une orientation et les commissionner ! Ils auraient tout raté. En fait, Pierre et quelques autres disciples étaient déjà retournés à la pêche. Que devrions-nous apprendre de tout cela ? 

(1) Bien-aimés, l'apprentissage doit être un processus continu. Ne présumez jamais que les gens ont compris quelque chose jusqu'à ce que vous les voyiez le mettre en pratique. 

(2) L'apprentissage va de pair avec les répétitions. Il y a des sujets qui nécessitent des répétitions constantes. Le royaume d'Israël n'était qu'un établissement temporel pour que Dieu atteigne le reste des nations. Dieu avait un plus grand programme, rétablir Son Royaume sur terre. C'était le centre du message de Jésus. Jésus ne se contentait pas seulement de prêcher, de guérir et de délivrer les gens, son objectif était le Royaume de Dieu. 

(3) Chaque enfant de Dieu devrait vivre et penser globalement et non localement. S'impliquer dans le travail global d'expansion du royaume de Dieu sur terre. 

(4) Nous devons équilibrer nos attentes personnelles dans la vie avec la Mission de Dieu. Oui, vous avez des besoins, mais Dieu a aussi un programme dont Il veut que vous fassiez partie. Son agenda doit être acomplie. Il cherche des ouvriers pour sa moisson. Serez-vous l'un d'eux? Cherchez un moyen de contribuer à l'avancement du Royaume de Dieu. Ne soyons pas oisifs et paresseux à ce sujet. C'est une question urgente. Cela déterminera la seconde venue de Jésus-Christ. Que Dieu bénisse votre journée.
