When Purpose and Vision Speak, Part Two / Quand le But et la Vision Parlent, Deuxième Partie

1 Corinthians 9:16:

"For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!"

There are three truths in our text to grasp about purpose and vision. 

1. Your purpose and vision are not what you should boast about, because they are simply what you were created to be and to do. Can the fish boast before the bird that I am better than you because I can swim and you cannot? No! The bird will simply ask the fish, let's have a ride in the air. And that will settle the dispute. Both animals were created by God but designed differently for different purposes.

Apostle Paul understood this and he wrote, "For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of."

When you do what you are naturally gifted and built to do, you don't have to brag around about it. An evangelist should not criticize a pastor that you are too compassionate with the people. You know how sharp evangelist like John the Baptist can be. Simply seek to be at your best in your field without boasting. Those who compare themselves with others or mock the calling (purpose) of others are not wise. We are not built the same and we can never be the same. Also, don't try to be or to fight a bird if you are a fish. 

2. Purpose and visions are driving forces; they are natural motivators and compelling calls. Again Paul wrote, "For necessity is laid upon me." Who laid the necessity upon him? God who placed the purpose in him and gave him the vision. Hear the apostle explaining how motivated he was even without the benefits of his apostleship, "But I have used none of these things, (Advantages and benefits) nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void."

Your purpose and vision are what wakes you up when others are sleeping. And they are also what keeps you up when others have gone to bed. They are what you have to do in honour and for the glory to your creator. 

3. Purpose and Vision cannot be exchanged for anything else. Can the bird be asked to swim so that it fits in the company of fish? No! Can the fish be asked to fly so that it fits in the company of birds? No! Purpose and vision define the domaine a lane of your life.

Paul said, "Yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!"

Literally, Paul was saying, cursed is me if I do not do what I am designed, called, appointed and empowered to do. If you have not found what to die for, them you have not started living. Life begins and is sweet when you find what you were called to do and you are ready to go length and breadth with it. « Car si je prêche l'Évangile, je n'ai pas de quoi me vanter, car la nécessité m'en est imposée ; oui, malheur à moi si je ne prêche pas l'Évangile ! »

Il y a trois vérités clés à saisir dans notre texte concernant le but et la vision. 

1. Votre but et votre vision ne sont pas ce dont vous devriez vous vanter, car ils sont tout simplement ce pour quoi vous avez été créé et ce que vous devez faire. Le poisson peut-il se vanter devant l'oiseau que je suis meilleur que toi parce que je sais nager et que toi, tu ne le sais pas ? Non! L'oiseau demandera simplement au poisson, faisons un tour dans les airs. Et cela réglera le différend. Les deux animaux ont été créés par Dieu, mais conçus différemment à des buts différentes. 

L'apôtre Paul l'avait compris et il a écrit : « Car si je prêche l'Évangile, je n'ai aucune raison de me vanter. »

Lorsque vous faites ce pour quoi vous êtes naturellement doué et équipé, vous n’avez pas à vous en vanter. Un évangéliste ne devrait pas critiquer un pasteur en lui reprochant d’être trop compatissant envers les gens. Vous savez à quel point un évangéliste comme Jean-Baptiste peut être perspicace. Cherchez simplement à être à votre meilleur dans votre domaine sans vous vanter. Ceux qui se comparent aux autres ou se moquent de la vocation (du but) des autres ne sont pas sages. Nous ne sommes pas construits de la même manière et nous ne pourrons jamais être les mêmes. N'essayez pas non plus d'être ou de combattre un oiseau si vous êtes un poisson. 

2. Le but et la vision sont des forces motrices ; ce sont des facteurs de motivation naturels et des appels contraignants. Paul dit encore : « Car la nécessité m'en est imposée. » Qui lui en a imposé la nécessité ? Dieu qui a placé le but en lui et lui a donné la vision. Écoutez l'apôtre expliquer à quel point il était motivé même sans les bénéfices de son apostolat, « Mais je n'ai utilisé aucune de ces choses, (Avantages et bénéfices) et je n'ai pas non plus écrit ces choses pour qu'il me soit fait ainsi; car Il vaudrait mieux que je meure plutôt que que quelqu'un annule ma vantardise. »

Votre objectif et votre vision sont ce qui vous réveille lorsque les autres dorment. Et c’est aussi ce qui vous empêche de dormir lorsque les autres se couchent. C'est ce que vous devez faire en honneur et pour la gloire de votre créateur. 

3. Le but et la vision ne peuvent être échangés contre autre chose. Peut-on demander à l’oiseau de nager pour qu’il s’intègre en compagnie des poissons ? Non! Peut-on demander au poisson de voler pour qu'il s'intègre en compagnie des oiseaux ? Non! Le but et la vision définissent le domaine comme une voie de votre vie. Paul a dit : « Oui, malheur à moi si je ne prêche pas l'Évangile ! » Littéralement, disait Paul, maudit suis-je si je ne fais pas ce pour quoi je suis conçu, appelé, nommé et habilité de faire. Si vous n’avez pas trouvé quoi mourir pour, vous n’avez pas encore commencé à vivre. La vie commence et est sucrée lorsque vous trouvez ce à quoi vous avez été appelé et que vous êtes prêt à l’accomplir de long en large.
