Adam, where are you? / Adam, où es-tu ?

Genesis 3:9‭-‬10

“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Who has boarded Yango car or used the GPS on your phone and at a certain point you hear a voice, “Distance recalculated”? That means the driver or you have missed the track and the GPS Assistance is helping you to come back on the right track according to the destination on the map. 

Adam, where are you? This is a divine call and a divine confrontation. This did not mean that God never knew where Adam was hiding behind the tree. But, was Adam aware of His fall? Was Adam conscious of his lost state? 

God is omnipresent and omniscient. There is no place and there is nothing we can hide from Him. He knows the intent of our hearts and every of our actions. Listen to the Psalmist when he wrote about that: 

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.” (Psalms 139:7‭-‬12). 

My friend, if God were to confront you today with this question, where are you? What will be your answer? 

This question is not a call only for sinners who do not know God to repent and turn back to Him. This question comes to us at any giving point and giving time of our life on earth to help us get back on track with our destination. David who wrote Psalm 139, understood that he cannot hide from God. So, the call was not so that God gets to be informed about our whereabout, but a divine confrontation that will lead us to realize ourselves in His divine plan. 

Where are you at this point in life and in your ministry? 

Where are you in your walk with God? 

Where are you in your family and profession? 

Where are you at this point in time? 

It is possible that you yourself do not even know where you are at this point in your life. You may be lost, confused, and perplexed. The situations of life have shifted you from the right path. You can ask God to help you realize where you are and recalculate the distance for you. 

Let's close with this prayer of David, 

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.” (Psalms 139:1‭-‬3).

You can say to God, help me to come back on the right track.

« Alors le Seigneur Dieu appela Adam et lui dit : « Où es-tu ? » Alors il dit : « J’ai entendu ta voix dans le jardin, et j’ai eu peur parce que j’étais nu ; et je me suis caché. »

Qui est monté à bord de la voiture Yango ou a utilisé le GPS de votre téléphone et à un moment donné vous entendez une voix « Distance recalculée » ? Cela signifie que le conducteur ou vous avez raté la trajet et l'assistance GPS vous aide à revenir sur le bon trajet en fonction de la destination indiquée sur la carte. 

Adam, où es-tu ? C'est un appel divin et une confrontation divine. Cela ne voulait pas dire que Dieu ne savait pas où Adam se cachait derrière l’arbre. Mais Adam était-il conscient de sa chute ? Adam était-il conscient de son état perdu ? 

Dieu est omniprésent et omniscient. Il n’y a aucun endroit et il n’y a rien que nous puissions lui cacher. Il connaît l'intention de notre cœur et chacune de nos actions. Écoutez le Psalmiste lorsqu’il écrit à ce sujet :

 « Où puis-je aller loin de Ton Esprit ? Ou où puis-je fuir Ta présence ? Si je monte au ciel, Tu es là ; Si je fais mon lit en enfer, voici, Tu es là. Si je prends les ailes du matin, et habite aux extrémités de la mer, là même ta main me conduira, et ta main droite me tiendra. Si je dis : « Certainement les ténèbres tomberont sur moi », même la nuit sera légère autour de moi. ; En effet, les ténèbres ne te cacheront pas, Mais la nuit brille comme le jour ; Les ténèbres et la lumière sont toutes deux pareilles pour Toi. » (Psaume 139 : 7-12). 

Mon ami, si Dieu te confrontait aujourd’hui avec cette question, où es-tu ? Quelle sera ta réponse ? 

Cette question n’est pas un appel réservé aux pécheurs qui ne connaissent pas Dieu à se repentir et à revenir à Lui. Cette question nous vient à tout moment et à tout temps de notre vie sur terre pour nous aider à nous remettre sur la bonne voie vers notre destination. David, qui a écrit le Psaume 139, a compris qu'il ne peut pas se cacher de Dieu. Il ne s’agissait donc pas d’un appel pour que Dieu sache où nous sommes, mais d’une confrontation divine qui nous amènerait à nous réaliser dans son plan divin. 

Où en es-tu à ce stade de ta vie et de ton ministère ? 

Où en es-tu dans ta marche avec Dieu ? Où en es-tu dans ta famille et ta profession ? Où en es-tu à ce moment-ci ? 

Il est possible que toi même ne saches même pas où tu en es à ce stade de ta vie. Tu peux être perdu, confus et perplexe. Les situations de la vie t'ont détourné du bon champion. Tu peux demander à Dieu de t'aider à réaliser où tu te trouves et à recalculer la distance pour toi.

Terminons par cette prière de David,

 « O Seigneur, tu m'as sondé et tu m'as connu. Tu connais ma position assise et mon lever; tu comprends ma pensée de loin. Tu comprends mon chemin et ma position couchée, et tu connais toutes mes voies. » (Psaume 139 : 1-3). 

Tu peux dire à Dieu, aide-moi à revenir sur le bon chemin. Que Dieu bénisse ta journée et la nouvelle semaine.
