Why are You Hiding? / Pourquoi te caches tu?

Genesis 3:9‭-‬10

“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Generally, when a person who used to great you, visit you and talk with you start avoiding you, you can rightly deduce that something is wrong or that he or she is hiding something from you. I am sure we have witnessed this kind of situation or we ourselves have been or are  in such situations sometimes. 

Why are you hiding? From whom are you hiding?

Adam and his wife were created to have constant fellowship with God. God used to come literally in the Garden of Eden and have discussions with Adam about the world and how He will rule the earth. In one of such meetings, God gave him the great task of naming all the animals. 

God also communicated to Adam His laws and expectations. It is written, “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17).

It happened in the course of time, that man was deceived and he disobeyed God. Oh, man betrayed the trust God placed in him. And the Bible says, “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8). 

Why did they hide themselves? 

Adam himself responded, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:10).

- Adam was afraid. 

- Adam was naked

- Adam was ashamed. 

These are natural feelings we get when we sin against God or against one another. Adam and his wife thought they could hide from God's presence because of their sins. Something died in them. The love he had for God's presence died. The fellowship and friendship died. Their spirits died. They could stand God's presence anymore. 

Are you hiding from God or from some lone? 

It is natural to have fear and to feel ashamed, but you must come back to God. He knows where you are in your journey with Him. He knows all that has happened. Take note of these three truths.

1. God is the one who came looking for man. 

2. God is the one who called for man.

3. God is the one who made clothes to cover man's nakedness. 

He is still doing those today. He is looking for the lost. He is calling lost and the backsliding to himself. He is clothing the naked, covering their shame, healing hearts and restoring life. Can you hear His voice and answer His call? 

No need to hide anymore. Come!  Hallelujah!!!

 Genèse 3 :9-10

« Alors le Seigneur Dieu appela Adam et lui dit : « Où es-tu ? » Alors il dit : « J’ai entendu ta voix dans le jardin, et j’ai eu peur parce que j’étais nu ; et je me suis caché. »

Généralement, lorsqu'une personne qui vous aimait, vous rendait visite et vous parlait commence à vous éviter, vous pouvez à juste titre en déduire que quelque chose ne va pas ou qu'elle vous cache quelque chose. Je suis sûr que nous avons été témoins de ce genre de situation ou que nous avons nous-mêmes été ou sommes même dans une telle situation. 

Pourquoi te caches tu? De qui te caches-tu ? 

Adam et sa femme ont été créés pour avoir une communion constante avec Dieu. Dieu venait littéralement dans le jardin d’Éden et discutait avec Adam du monde et de la manière dont il gouvernerait la terre. Lors d’une de ces réunions, Dieu lui confia la grande tâche de nommer tous les animaux. Dieu a également communiqué à Adam Ses lois et ses attentes. Il est écrit : 

« Mais vous ne mangerez pas de l'arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal, car le jour où vous en mangerez, vous mourrez sûrement. » (Genèse 2:17). 

Il est arrivé au fil du temps que l’homme ait été trompé et qu’il ait désobéi à Dieu. Oh, l’homme a trahi la confiance que Dieu avait placée en lui. Et la Bible dit :

 « Et ils entendirent la voix du Seigneur Dieu marchant dans le jardin pendant la fraîcheur du jour, et Adam et sa femme se cachèrent de la présence du Seigneur Dieu parmi les arbres du jardin. » (Genèse 3:8). 

Pourquoi se sont-ils cachés ? 

Adam lui-même répondit : « J'ai entendu ta voix dans le jardin et j'ai eu peur parce que j'étais nu ; et je me suis caché. » (Genèse 3:10). 

- Adam avait peur. 

- Adam était nu 

- Adam avait honte. 

Ce sont des sentiments naturels que nous ressentons lorsque nous péchons contre Dieu ou les uns contre les autres. Adam et sa femme pensaient pouvoir se cacher de la présence de Dieu à cause de leurs péchés. Quelque chose est mort en eux. L'amour qu'ils avaient pour la présence de Dieu est mort. La camaraderie et l'amitié sont mortes. Leurs esprits sont morts. Ils ne pouvaient plus supporter la présence de Dieu. 

Est-ce que vous vous cachez de Dieu ou de quelqu'un ? 

Il est naturel d’avoir peur et d’avoir honte, mais il faut revenir à Dieu. Il sait où vous en êtes dans votre voyage avec Lui. Il sait tout ce qui s'est passé. Prenez note de ces trois vérités. 

1. Dieu est celui qui est venu chercher l’homme. 

2. Dieu est celui qui a appelé l'homme. 

3. Dieu est celui qui a confectionné des vêtements pour couvrir la nudité de l'homme.

Il le fait encore aujourd'hui. Il cherche les perdus. Il appelle les perdus et les rétrogrades à lui-même. Il habille ceux qui sont nus, couvre leur honte, il guérit les cœurs et redonne la vie.
