Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
The name Immanuel is not new to all of us. Unfortunately, that name has become so vulgar and common that it has lost its substance and essence. The true meaning of "Immanuel" is fading and its impact is insignificant; so much that even atheist, unbelievers, occultists bear that name without any fear or consideration of God. What is the meaning of Immanuel and its scope to the human race?
Isaiah was replying on behalf of God to Ahaz to reassured him of God's indefectible support and protection against the people Aram, Ephraim and Ramaliah's son (Isaiah 7:2,5). These were planning to invade Judah and ransacked it. But hear the words of God to Ahaz,
"Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah." (Isaiah 7:4 NIV ).
Then God proceeded further to say this in Isaiah 7:7,
"Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘It will not take place, it will not happen." Meaning the conspiracy and the plan to destroy Judah will not take place. Hallelujah! Verses 8&9 give some reasons, but let move further. In Verses 10-13, we read the following,
"Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, [11] “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.” [12] But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.” [13] Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also?"
Friends, it is dangerous to doubt God and to try His patience. Ahaz was king of Judah, the southern Kingdom of Israel, the nation of God. Yet, he did not take advantage of the Covenant with God. When they were faced with enemies, him and the people were afraid. They forgot that God was with them. And so, God purposed to give them a sign; a sign that He is with them and will fight for them.
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14 )
Immanuel means, God with us, the human race. It is made up of three words:
1. "Im" which means, accompanying, before, beside, by, from (among or between) or with.
2. "Manu" referring to man.
3. "El" referring to God, the Almighty.
Therefore, "Immanuel" means the Almighty God is accompanying, before, beside, by, from (among or between) or is with man. Praise the Lord! Can you imagine that?
God is with you, accompanying, before, beside, by, from (among or between) or He is with you. You cannot be defeated.
Next time you call or hear Immanuel, remind yourself, it is well with me. God came to us in the person of Christ. He now lives in every believer. Cheer up, it is well.

"C'est pourquoi le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe : la vierge deviendra enceinte et enfantera un fils, et elle l'appellera Emmanuel."
Le nom Emmanuel n’est pas nouveau pour nous tous. Malheureusement, ce nom est devenu si vulgaire et commun qu’il a perdu sa substance et son essence. Le vrai sens d'« Emmanuel » s'estompe et son impact est insignifiant ; à tel point que même les athées, les incroyants et les occultistes portent ce nom sans aucune crainte ni considération de Dieu. Quelle est la signification d’Emmanuel et sa portée pour la race humaine ?
Esaïe répondait pour le compte de Dieu à Achaz pour le rassurer du soutien et de la protection indéfectibles de Dieu contre le peuple Aram, Ephraïm et le fils de Ramaliah (Esaïe 7 :2,5). Ceux-ci projetaient d’envahir Juda et de le piller. Mais écoutez les paroles de Dieu à Achaz,
"Et dis-lui: Sois tranquille, ne crains rien, Et que ton cœur ne s’alarme pas, Devant ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, Devant la colère de Retsin et de la Syrie, et du fils de Remalia" (Isaïe 7:4 LSG ). Puis Dieu a continué en disant ceci dans Ésaïe 7 : 7 : "Or, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel : " 'Cela n'arrivera pas, cela n'arrivera pas."
Ce qui signifie que la conspiration et le plan visant à détruire Juda n'auront pas lieu. Alléluia! Les versets 8 et 9 donnent quelques raisons, mais allons plus loin.
Dans les versets 10 à 13, nous lisons ce qui suit :
"L'Eternel parla encore à Achaz : [11] "Demande un signe à l'Eternel ton Dieu, soit dans les profondeurs les plus profondes, soit dans les hauteurs les plus élevées." 12 Mais Achaz dit : « Je ne demanderai rien, je ne mettrai pas l'Eternel à l'épreuve. » [13] Alors Esaïe dit : « Écoutez maintenant, maison de David ! Ne suffit-il pas d'éprouver la patience des hommes ? Essayez-vous aussi la patience de mon Dieu ? »
Mes amis, il est dangereux de douter de Dieu et de mettre à l’épreuve sa patience. Achaz était roi de Juda, le royaume méridional d'Israël, la nation de Dieu. Pourtant, il ne profita pas de l’Alliance avec Dieu. Lorsqu’ils se trouvaient face à des ennemis, lui et le peuple avaient peur. Ils oublièrent que Dieu était avec eux. Et ainsi, Dieu se proposait de leur donner un signe ; un signe qu'Il est avec eux et qu'Il combattra pour eux.
"C'est pourquoi le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe : La vierge deviendra enceinte et enfantera un fils, et elle l'appellera Emmanuel." (Ésaïe 7:14 )
Emmanuel signifie Dieu avec nous, la race humaine. Il est composé de trois mots :
1. "Im" qui signifie accompagner, avant, à côté, par, de (parmi ou entre) ou avec.
2. « Manu » faisant référence à l'homme.
3. « El » faisant référence à Dieu, le Tout-Puissant.
Par conséquent, « Emmanuel » signifie que Dieu Tout-Puissant accompagne, avant, à côté, par, de (parmi ou entre) ou est avec l'homme. Louez le Seigneur ! Pouvez-vous imaginer ça?
Dieu est avec vous, vous accompagnant, avant, à côté, par, de (parmi ou entre) ou Il est avec vous.
Vous ne pouvez pas être vaincu. La prochaine fois que vous appellerez ou entendrez Emmanuel, rappelez-vous que tout va bien pour moi. Dieu est venu à nous dans la personne du Christ. Il vit désormais dans chaque croyant. Rassurez-vous, tout va bien.
