Jesus Christ as our Kinsman Redeemer / Jésus-Christ comme notre Parent Rédempteur

‭Ruth‬ ‭4:6‬

"And the close relative said, “I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin my own inheritance. You redeem my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it.”"

In the Jewish tradition, when man who was married dies and leaving behind his wife, another man, a close relative of the deceased family had the right to buy his properties, marry the widow and continue the family lineage and inheritance. Thereby, ensuring care for the widow and descendants to the family. This tradition is also practiced in some African tribes and families. The man who buys the properties and marries the widow is called the Kinsman Redeemer. Such was the case of Boaz. 

Boaz exercised the right of redemption by marrying Ruth and purchasing the property of her first husband's father, a near relative. Ruth the Moabites came back with Naomi her mother-in-law to Bathlehem after losing her husband. She was a stranger in the land of Israel. But because of her good character and by God's providence, she met Boaz, a close relative of Naomi's husband. Through the good counsels of her mother in-law, she found favour with Boaz. ‭‭

Boaz is representative of Jesus Christ as our Redeemer. There was no hope for Ruth to remarry;  being a Moabite and a widow. But Boaz agreed to marry her without any prejudice. Another closer relative who could have done it desisted. ‭‭ ‭

"And the close relative said, “I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin my own inheritance. You redeem my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it.” ...Therefore the close relative said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.” So he took off his sandal." (Ruth‬ ‭4:6‬, 8).

So is the case with our redemption. Jesus Christ temporary gave up His glory and took the form of a man in order to redeem us. He wasn't obliged to do it, but He did it because He loves us. 

Friends, Jesus Christ was willing to buy our case. We can rest assure that He cares for us. But we have to adopt Ruth's attitude. ‭‭She was humble and obedient. She followed her mother-in-law's instructions and came to lay down at Boaz's feet. ‭

"And he said, “Who are you?” So she answered, “I am Ruth, your maidservant. Take your maidservant under your wing, for you are a close relative.”" (Ruth‬ ‭3:9‬‭‭). 

Come and find refuge at the feed of Jesus Christ. Listen to His counsels. He is our Kinsman Redeemer.

Ruth 4:6

« Et le proche parent dit : "Je ne peux pas le racheter pour moi, de peur de ruiner mon propre héritage. Toi rachètes mon droit de rachat pour toi-même, car je ne peux pas le racheter." »

Dans la tradition juive, lorsqu'un homme marié décède et laisse derrière lui sa femme, un autre homme, proche parent de la famille, a le droit d'acheter ses propriétés, d'épouser la veuve et de perpétuer la lignée familiale et l'héritage. Ainsi, assurer les soins de la veuve et des descendants de la famille. Cette tradition est également pratiquée dans certaines tribus et familles africaines. L'homme qui achète les propriétés et épouse la veuve est appelé le Parent Rédempteur. Tel fut le cas de Boaz. 

Boaz a exercé son droit de rédemption en épousant Ruth et en achetant la propriété du père de son premier mari, un proche parent. Ruth la Moabite revint à Bathléem avec Naomi, sa belle-mère, après avoir perdu son mari. Elle était étrangère au pays d’Israël. Mais grâce à sa bonne moralité et par la Providence de Dieu, elle rencontra Boaz, un proche parent du mari de Naomi. Grâce aux bons conseils de sa belle-mère, elle trouva grâce auprès de Boaz. ‭‭

Boaz est le représentant de Jésus-Christ en tant que notre Rédempteur. Il n’y avait aucun espoir pour Ruth de se remarier ; étant Moabite et veuve. Mais Boaz a accepté de l’épouser sans aucun préjugé. Un autre parent plus proche qui aurait pu le faire  renonça. ‭‭ ‭ 

"Et le proche parent dit : "Je ne peux pas le racheter pour moi, de peur de ruiner mon propre héritage. Toi rachètes mon droit de rachat pour toi-même, car je ne peux pas le racheter." ...C'est pourquoi le proche parent dit à Boaz : « Achète-le toi-même. » Alors il ôta sa sandale. » (Ruth 4 :6, 8). 

Il en va de même pour notre rédemption. Jésus-Christ a temporairement abandonné sa gloire et a pris la forme d'un homme afin de nous racheter. Il n'était pas obligé de le faire, mais il l'a fait parce qu'il nous aime. Mes amis, Jésus-Christ était prêt à acheter notre cause. Nous pouvons être assurés qu’Il ​​prend soin de nous. Mais nous devons adopter l'attitude de Ruth. 

Elle était humble et obéissante. Elle suivit les instructions de sa belle-mère et vint se coucher aux pieds de Boaz. ‭ "Et il a dit : "Qui es-tu ?" Alors elle répondit : "Je suis Ruth, ta servante. Prends ta servante sous ton aile, car tu es une proche parente. " (Ruth 3 : 9).
