The Benediction, What is it and what is it's value? / La Bénédiction à la fin du culte, qu'est-ce que c'est et quelle est sa valeur ?

‭‭Leviticus 9:22

"Then Aaron lifted his hand toward the people, blessed them..."

At the end of every worship service, there is one item on the program called the Benediction. I am sure many have been asking, what is it? And how should I participate in it? 

The idea about the Benediction springs from this action of Aaron in Leviticus 9:22 and also the commandment of God. The book of Leviticus focuses on the worship and walk of the nation of God. It shows how God's people are to fulfill their priestly calling. Some of the major functions of the priests were teaching the people the laws of God and performing different sacrificial offerings to God for the people. They were also mandated to bless the people of God. We see Aaron doing that in our passage.

"Then Aaron lifted his hand toward the people, blessed them, and came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and peace offerings." (Leviticus 9:22). 

It did not stop there. The next verse reveal somethings very important:

"And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of meeting, and came out and blessed the people..." (Leviticus 9:23).

There was an immediate manifestation from heaven, (verses 23&24) 

1. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people, 

2. And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. 

3. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces. They worshipped God again. 

It is true that we are all priests before the Lord, but it is mandatory upon the presiding priests in every worship community and worship service to bless the people. This was commanded by God in Numbers 6: 22-27. ‭‭

"And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: [23] “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:...[27] “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”" (Numbers 6:22-23, 27). You can find out the words of that blessing. 

The same idea runs through in Deuteronomy 21:5, Luke 24:50, and the Epistles such as 2 Corinthians 13:14, Jude 24.

For example, ‭‭Deuteronomy 21:5 (NIV‬‬) says clearly,

"The Levitical priests shall step forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister and to pronounce blessings in the name of the Lord and to decide all cases of dispute and assault."

How do you behave when the presiding priest is doing this? 

1. Be open minded. Receive the blessings in your heart. 

2. You can symbolically open your hands to receive.

3. Believe that the words will work on your behalf.

 Lévitique 9:22

"Alors Aaron leva la main vers le peuple et le bénit..."

À la fin de chaque culte, il y a un élément au programme appelé la bénédiction. Je suis sûr que beaucoup se demandent : qu’est-ce que c’est ? Et comment dois-je y participer ? 

L'idée de ceete bénédiction découle de cette action d'Aaron dans Lévitique 9 : 22 et aussi du commandement de Dieu. Le livre du Lévitique se concentre sur l’adoration et la marche de la nation de Dieu. Cela montre comment le peuple de Dieu doit remplir son appel sacerdotal. Certaines des fonctions principales des prêtres consistaient à enseigner au peuple les lois de Dieu et à accomplir différentes offrandes sacrificielles à Dieu pour le peuple. Ils avaient également pour mandat de bénir le peuple de Dieu. Nous voyons Aaron faire cela dans notre passage. 

"Alors Aaron leva la main vers le peuple, le bénit et descendit du sacrifice d'expiation, de l'holocauste et des sacrifices de paix." (Lévitique 9 :22). 

Cela ne s'est pas arrêté là. Le verset suivant révèle quelque chose de très important : "Moïse et Aaron entrèrent dans la tente d'assignation, sortirent et bénirent le peuple..." (Lévitique 9 :23). 

Il y a eu une manifestation immédiate du ciel (versets 23 et 24) 

1. Alors la gloire du Seigneur apparut à tout le peuple, 

2. Et un feu sortit de devant l'Éternel et consuma l'holocauste et les graisses sur l'autel. 

3. Quand tout le monde vit cela, ils crièrent et tombèrent la face contre terre. Ils adorèrent à nouveau Dieu. 

Il est vrai que nous sommes tous prêtres devant le Seigneur, mais il est obligatoire pour les prêtres qui président chaque communauté de culte et chaque service de culte de bénir les participants. Cela a aussi été commandé par Dieu dans Nombres 6 : 22-27. ‭‭ 

"Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse, disant : [23] « Parle à Aaron et à ses fils, et dis : 'C'est ainsi que vous bénirez les enfants d'Israël. Dis-leur :...[27] « Ainsi ils je mettrai mon nom sur les enfants d'Israël, et je les bénirai. » (Nombres 6 : 22-23, 27). 

Vous pouvez découvrir les paroles de cette bénédiction. La même idée transparaît dans Deutéronome 21 :5, Luc 24 :50 et dans les épîtres telles que 2 Corinthiens 13 :14, Jude 24.

Par exemple, Deutéronome 21 : 5 (NIV) dit clairement : 

_"Les prêtres lévites s'avanceront, car l'Éternel, votre Dieu, les a choisis pour exercer le ministère et prononcer des bénédictions au nom de l'Éternel et pour trancher tous les cas de dispute et d'agression. "

Comment vous devez-vous vous comporter lorsque le prêtre principal fait cela ?

1. Soyez ouvert d’esprit. Recevez les bénédictions dans votre cœur. 

2. Vous pouvez symboliquement ouvrir les mains pour recevoir. 

3. Croyez que les paroles agiront en votre faveur.
