To Love God (Part Four) / Aimer Dieu (Quatrième Partie)

I Kings 3:3‭-‬4:

And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David.... Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

Can you imagine a love story where a man always speaks to his wife about his love for her and never does anything at all to prove it. You will tell me that that love is surely a fake love. Love goes with making sacrifices.

In out text, we are told that Solomon loved God. And the next thing that follows is that he sacrificed a thousand offering to God. The love of Solomon for God was not just passive and verbal. Solomon was ready and able to make a hurge sacrifice to the God he loved. Where did he copy that attitude from? From his father, David. 

Verse 3 says, Solomon walked in the status of his father. Look at what his Father said when it came to giving a sacrifice to God, "Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver." (2 Samuel 24:24). 

David Di not want to give a cheap offering to God. See some other examples:

1) The love of Abraham for God cost him his son.

2) The love of Moses for God cost him the pleasures of the palace in Egypt.

3) The love of Jesus for God and God's people cost Him His life.

What is your love for God costing you? 

When one truly loves God, he will sacrifice his time, treasures and talents for God and for what concerns God such as the preaching of the Gospel, the house of God, the people of God, etc. 

Look at the reward for loving God and being ready to sacrifice. Just immediately, God appeared to Solomon. "At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” Hallelujah! Imagine God asking you, that same question. Oh my God! What will you ask? 

Solomon asked for wisdom to lead the people. And you know the rest of the story. I can guarantee you that whatever you have ever sacrificed for God out love and not lust will never be in vain. God will return to you a hundredfold if you do not give up and do not abandon the faith. 

Prayer:

Father, thank you for your word which says, he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. As I sacrifié to you because of my love for you, I wait for the harvest in Jesus name, Amen 🙏🙏🙏

« Salomon aimait l'Éternel et suivait les prescriptions de son père David... Le roi se rendit à Gabaon pour y offrir des sacrifices, car c'était le grand haut lieu. Salomon offrit mille holocaustes sur cet autel. »

Pouvez-vous imaginer une histoire d'amour où un homme parle toujours à sa femme de son amour pour elle sans jamais rien faire pour le prouver? Vous me direz que cet amour est sûrement un faux amour. L'amour va de pair avec le sacrifice.

Dans notre texte, il est dit que Salomon aimait Dieu. Et la chose suivante qui suit est qu'il a sacrifié mille offrandes à Dieu. L'amour de Salomon pour Dieu n'était pas seulement passif et verbal. Salomon était prêt et capable de faire un grand sacrifice pour le Dieu qu'il aimait. D'où a-t-il copié cette attitude ? De son père, David.

Le verset 3 dit que Salomon suivait les prescriptions de son père. Regardez ce que son père a dit lorsqu'il s'agissait de faire un sacrifice à Dieu : « Mais le roi dit à Arauna : Non ! Je veux l'acheter de toi à prix d'argent ; je n'offrirai pas à l'Éternel, mon Dieu, des holocaustes qui ne me coûtent rien. » Ainsi David acheta l'aire et les bœufs pour cinquante sicles d'argent. (2 Samuel 24:24).

David ne voulait pas offrir une offrande bon marché à Dieu. Voyez d'autres exemples :

1. L'amour d'Abraham pour Dieu lui a coûté son fils.

2. L'amour de Moïse pour Dieu lui a coûté les plaisirs du palais en Égypte.

3. L'amour de Jésus pour Dieu et pour le peuple de Dieu lui a coûté sa vie.

Qu'est-ce que votre amour pour Dieu vous coûte ?

Quand on aime vraiment Dieu, on sacrifiera son temps, ses trésors et ses talents pour Dieu et pour ce qui concerne Dieu, comme la prédication de l'Évangile, la maison de Dieu, le peuple de Dieu, etc.

Regardez la récompense pour aimer Dieu et être prêt à sacrifier. Juste après, Dieu est apparu à Salomon. « À Gabaon, l'Éternel apparut à Salomon dans un rêve pendant la nuit, et Dieu dit : Demande ce que tu veux que je te donne. » Alléluia ! Imaginez Dieu vous posant cette même question. Oh mon Dieu ! Que demanderez-vous ?

Salomon a demandé la sagesse pour guider le peuple. Et vous connaissez le reste de l'histoire. Je peux vous garantir que tout ce que vous avez jamais sacrifié pour Dieu par amour et non par convoitise ne sera jamais en vain. Dieu vous rendra au centuple si vous ne renoncez pas et n'abandonnez pas la foi.

Prière :

Père, merci pour ta parole qui dit, celui qui sème abondamment moissonnera aussi abondamment. Alors que je sacrifie pour toi par amour pour toi, j'attends la récolte au nom de Jésus, Amen 🙏🙏🙏
