THE CRACKS BELOW THE SURFACE
2 Samuel 11:1-2
And this happened at the turn of the year, at the time when kings go forth to battle: David sent out Joab and his servants with him and all Israel. And they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David still stayed at Jerusalem. And it so happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing. And the woman was very beautiful in appearance."
Where does sin begins? Satan has fed the minds of many people with a lie that they can be giants of faith and still play around sin. Sin is not a respecter of person or personality. Thinking we are above temptation and sin is the first step to fall. If it happened to David it can happen to me or you. So none is exempt from the lesson in 2 Samuel 11.
One reality about sin is that falling into sin does not happen suddenly without warning! Immorality begins with tiny things sown in your youth. Maybe some casual petting on a date, maybe some pornography that fell into your hands. Little things. Yet if you don’t crucify them, if you don’t deal with them for what they are _ SIN, they can destroy you at a critical, irreversible juncture in life. Everybody will see the big collapse but under it was a crack that was growing each day. Let us examine the cracks below the surface of David's moral failure.
💔 1- Secret Sin. David is known as man after God's heart, a man of great faith, trust and obedience and worship to God. But David had a hidden problem with the opposite sex. 2 Samuel 3; 5 shows that David had at least 8 wives and multiple concubine. Polygamy was prohibited by God especially for leaders (Deuteronomy 17:17-20). But David followed the customs added to his lust than to obey God.
💔 2- Uncontrolled Success. David was very successful in his battles. He had great army and he was the most powerful king of his time. Success can be deceitful when it is not controlled. When you are mastered by your success rather than being the master of your success it becomes a crack to your fall.
💔 3- A little Sleep. 2 Samuel 11:1 says it was at the time when kings go to battles, but it was at this time that David chose to take a little sleep and wander around the palace. Certainly he may have thought to himself that he had sacrificed a lot and it was time to relax. Whenever you get more free time be careful because it is your time of vulnerability. An idle mind is the devil's workshop.
Beloved, you may be a child of God struggling to stand strong in faith. But let me remind you as I remind myself, the cracks under your feet will lead to a great collapse if it is not handle. Deal with that sin now, put it to death or you will die. Jesus is the key to repair the cracks of your life. Come to Him now, no one knows tomorrow. Shalom

LES FISSURES CACHÉES SOUS LA SURFACE
2 Samuel 11:1-2
"L'année suivante, au temps où les rois se mettaient en campagne, David envoya Joab en expédition avec ses serviteurs et tout Israël... Mais David resta à Jérusalem. Un soir, il se leva de son lit et se promena sur le toit du palais. De là, il aperçut une femme qui se baignait, et cette femme était très belle."
Où commence le péché ?
Satan a trompé beaucoup en leur faisant croire qu’on peut être un géant de la foi tout en flirtant avec le péché. Le péché ne fait pas de favoritisme. Croire qu’on est au-dessus de la tentation est déjà un premier pas vers la chute. Si David, "l'homme selon le cœur de Dieu", a trébuché, qui sommes-nous pour penser être invincibles ?
La chute ne survient jamais sans avertissement ! L’immoralité commence par des petites compromissions : des regards indiscrets, des images impures, des pensées non maîtrisées... Des "détails" qui, si on ne les crucifie pas, deviennent des fissures silencieuses—et un jour, tout s’écroule.
Examinons les fissures cachées derrière la chute de David :
💔 1. Le Péché Caché
David était un adorateur, un homme de foi—mais il avait une faille non jugulée : son appétit pour les femmes. 2 Samuel 3-5 révèle qu’il avait au moins 8 épouses et des concubines, en dépit de l’avertissement de Dieu contre la polygamie (Deutéronome 17:17). Il a normalisé son péché au lieu de le combattre.
→ Avez-vous un péché "toléré" ? Une habitude que vous justifiez ? Attention : ce qui est ignoré grandit.
💔 2. Le Succès Non Maîtrisé
David était au sommet : victoires militaires, puissance, richesse. Mais le succès non sanctifié rend aveugle. Quand on se croit invulnérable, on baisse la garde.
→ Votre réussite vous éloigne-t-elle de la dépendance à Dieu ?
💔 3. Le Relâchement
"C’était l’époque où les rois partaient en guerre... mais David resta." Il a choisi le confort au lieu de sa mission. L’oisiveté ouvre la porte à la tentation (Proverbes 16:27).
→ Vos moments de "repos" sont-ils des occasions pour la chair ?
L’APPEL URGENT
Frère, sœur, vous luttez peut-être aujourd’hui. Mais rappelez-vous : les petites fissures mènent aux grands effondrements.
Identifiez vos faiblesses.
Confessez sans tarder (1 Jean 1:9).
Fuyez dès les premiers signes (1 Corinthiens 6:18).
Jésus seul peut réparer les fissures de ton âme. Viens à Lui maintenant—avant que la faille ne devienne un abîme.
Prière :
Seigneur, révèle-moi les fissures cachées de mon cœur. Donne-moi la force de les affronter par Ta grâce. Je renonce à toute complaisance et je m’abandonne à Toi. Scelle-moi par Ton Esprit. Au nom de Jésus, amen.
