ABOUT US
WHO ARE MESSIAH
WORSHIPPERS?
WHAT IS THEIR AIM?
We aim at raising Revolutionary
Music Apostles to worship God with pure and sincere hearts in spirit and in
truth (John 4:23/Psalms 51:17) with the Holy Spirit as our inspiration as we
proclaim Jesus always and give him the stage.
HOW WE STARTED
Messiah Worshippers started some 8 years ago in Bamenda, the
capital city of the North West Region of the Republic of Cameroun at the Full
Gospel Mission House of GRACE, Bayelle Assembly with six (6) members all Male
student pastors at the Full Gospel Bible Institute (FGBI) Located at MILE 3
Nkwen, Bamenda
Two weeks later, we had four (4) new members making a total
of ten (10) worshippers. By then we had Pastor Nsongwat Blaise at the
helm of affairs who now pastors a Church somewhere in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He proposed a name for us as well as the schedule for practice and rehearsals. Three
(3) names were given with only one retained by the team known then as “THE
UNCOMMON VOICES”. Our practice sessions held every Saturdays from 1:00pm to
4:00pm. Every member of the team was playing
at least one instrument. By the mercies of God, we ministered in marriages,
Sunday services, birthdays celebrations and other special occasions with
mind-blowing testimonies, glory to God!
Failing to understand that the only thing that is constant in
this life is change, we never knew we were all on transition in the town of
Bamenda as all of us had less than one year to complete with school.
On February 18, 2016, the student pastors defended their
thesis and had to all leave Bamenda and only three (3) members were left out of
the ten (10) (Pastor Derick Blossom, Pastor Ndangaseh Abednego and Bro
Nkemofa Godwill Livingstone). After 3 practice sessions, we all became
discouraged and decided to shut down the group. Bro Livingstone objected
and took the vision at hand and in the heart. So he tried to reunite the team again,
making use of modern communication tools, given that we live in the internet age
as he created a WhatsApp group for all of them except for those who did not
have android phones then. This group continued till 2018 when he left Bamenda to
further his in Dschang, West Region of the Republic of Cameroon. After a while,
he lost his Android phone and could no longer communicate with them. While in
Dschang, he did not give up on the vision as he kept trying to unite the team
till he had the vision to update the membership of the team which he shared the
vision with a friend then called Bro. Wesley Bumtu, who happened to be a
lover of God and a lover of music as well. He did not hesitate to grasp the
vision by its horns as he joined Bro. Livingstone in running the affairs
of the movement. After a series of discussions and prayers, we had to update the
membership as we created a new WhatsApp group on divine instructions with the name “MESSIAH WORSHIPPERS”. After that, we took a deep reflection and got to understand that
praise is the expression of one’s gratitude and respect towards a deity,
especially in a song. So, Christian praise can be defined as the expression of
gratitude and respect towards God, especially in a song. We equally understood
that there are three Hebrew words in the Bible that are translated as praise.
One is “yadah”, which means “praise or give thanks or confess”.
Another one is “zamar” which means “sing praise.” And the
third one is “halal” (which is the root word for hallelujah), which
means “to praise, honor, or commend”.
On April 16, 2021, the name of the movement was changed from
“MESSIAH PRAISERS” to “MESSIAH WORSHIPPERS” after understanding that worship goes deeper than praise. It
is something that comes from the spirit. It is often said that it is an
attitude or state of the heart. In the Bible, Jesus spoke about worship in John
4:23. Therefore, worship for Christians goes beyond singing. Songs are just
tools for worshipping. Worship is a lifestyle, and it is not just limited to
when people raise their hands to sing to God in church. And praise comes from the
heart of worship. This is the reason why the name was changed from “MESSIAH
PRAISERS” to “MESSIAH WORSHIPPERS”
Later on, we began sharing our vision with the new members. We
trained and equipped them online for 2 years. We focused on teaching them some
vocal techniques, worship ethics, ministerial ethics, and societal ethics.
Finally, on November 24th, 2020, we started our first onsite worship
meeting in Dschang Baptist Church under the guidance and authorization
of the church pastor, Rev Sunjo Hosea Viban. The entire church leadership
was in support of this vision since its objective was soul-winning and youth
empowerment to better our Sunday services in the body of Christ. We have
empowered so many churches and individuals and have been partnering with some
churches. We run till date with the great vision the Lord has given us and
until the day he will decide the call it a Day.
Two years ago, Messiah Worshippers introduced a Daily Devotional tagged “Mâshîyach Devotional” which has been functioning under the hospices of the movement’s Director of Evangelism and Missions, Bro. Wesley Bumtu. Mind-blowing testimonies have been recorded as people get blessed with the devotionals shared through our various Social Media Handles. God be praised!
